Investigating, prosecuting and reviewing judicial misconduct cases is becoming an expensive endeavor, according to a new budget proposal from the Texas Commission on Judicial Misconduct for fiscal years 2022 to 2023.

The commission, which investigates allegations of misconduct or disability against judges, reported an increase in filings during the 2019 fiscal year—a spike it said was driven by a high number of complaints and external proceedings.
