Tom Reavley, who sat on Texas’ highest court for nine years, followed by 41 years on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, died Tuesday in Houston. He was 99.

One of the judges mourning Reavley’s death is Texas Supreme Court Justice Jeff Boyd, whose legal career was forged as a law clerk serving for Reavley on the Fifth Circuit from 1991 to 1992.
