A number of new district courts will launch across Texas starting on New Year's Day, and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott this week has been busy appointing new judges to preside over them.

Most recently, Abbott on Thursday appointed Heather Hines Wright to the new Guadalupe County 456th District Court. His announcement follows an appointment on Wednesday of Stephanie Bascon to Comal County's 466th District Court, and an appointment on Monday of Derbha Jones to the 467th District Court in Denton County.
