After facing a turbulent year, Baker Botts ended 2020 with small declines in revenue and income, but profits per equity partner improved by over 15% as the firm slimmed its equity partner ranks.

The Houston-based firm’s revenue hit $710.8 million in 2020, down 5.4% when compared with $751.1 million in 2019. With a total lawyer head count decline of 2.1%, revenue per lawyer (RPL) dropped by only 3.3%, coming in at $989,000 in 2020, compared with $1.023 million the prior year. Net income also saw a 3.6% decline in 2020, dropping from $315.6 million last year to $304.2 million.
