At a special meeting Monday, the board of the State Bar of Texas voted that it would not seek a panel or en banc rehearing on a Fifth Circuit panel ruling in suit filed by three lawyers who do not want mandatory bar dues spent on certain activities and programs.

The State Bar of Texas will not ask the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit to reconsider a ruling this month that found it was unconstitutional and violated lawyers' freedoms of speech and association to force them to pay dues for certain political and ideological bar activities.
At a special meeting Monday, the board of the State Bar of Texas voted that it would not file a petition for a panel rehearing in the litigation or a petition for an en banc rehearing.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays.
