Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed the Pandemic Liability Protection Act (PLPA) in mid-June, and it became effective immediately, noted Heath Cheek and Brent D. Hockaday, partners, and Katie R. Beaird, an associate, with Bell Nunnally in Dallas.

As written, the PLPA's liability shield will continue to protect businesses until the current pandemic disaster declaration is terminated, Cheek, Hockaday and Beaird said.
