The issue in the state of Texas is very similar to that in the Canadian province of Quebec, where McGill is located. In both situations, you have state governments sending the colleges and universities directives aimed at a return to pre-pandemic teaching and learning, which would be great were it not for the fact that we remain in a pandemic.

Less than two weeks ago I wrote on Law.com about how McGill University, a university with one of the best reputations in the world, was in the process of badly fumbling their return to campus by refusing calls to provide a safe learning and working environment for students, faculty and all employees.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
