Court-appointed receiver Ralph Janvey and his attorneys at Baker Botts have reached a milestone recovery of more than $1 billion for the victims of the Allen Stanford Ponzi scheme, one of the largest schemes in history by dollar amount and number of victims, the law firm announced Monday.

The $1 billion threshold was crossed when Janvey obtained $65 million due under his settlement agreement with insurers, including Lloyd’s of London. The agreement was originally reached in 2016 after years of review in the Dallas federal district court and appellate review at the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
