The Texas Criminal Appeals Court tossed a death row inmate’s murder conviction this week after officials discovered one of the prosecutors was paid thousands of dollars while he worked simultaneously as a judicial clerk for the trial judge assigned to the case.

Clinton Lee Young, who was 18 at the time, was accused of separately killing two men for the use of their vehicles over a 48-hour period in November 2001. Young was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to death in April 2003.
