Just days after a federal district court judge blocked Texas from enforcing its new abortion law, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit has granted the state’s request to temporarily halt the injunction. 

A three-judge panel on the Fifth Circuit has issued an “administrative stay” on the injunction while the court considers a separate request by Texas’ lawyers to grant a longer-term stay. Texas is appealing a ruling by U.S. District Judge Robert Pitman that blocked enforcement of the law and sharply criticized Texas for implementing it.
