Women dominate the top of the list of the highest-paid corporate general counsel in Texas, a result that tracks a new national general counsel compensation study that found women led in GC pay in 2020.

That national study from Equilar, which conducts executive compensation analysis, found that the median total compensation for women GCs topped $3 million in 2020, compared with about $2.7 million for men. That is the first time that women racked up higher compensation than men since Equilar began tracking pay data by gender five years ago.
