Three Texas law firms have joined forces to represent stakeholders of the original United States Football League in a trademark infringement lawsuit against Fox Sports Inc. to enjoin the network from launching a league by the same name.

In 2021, Fox and two affiliated corporations announced the creation of a new professional football league that would open its first season April 22 with eight teams. All of the teams use names and logos nearly identical to teams in the league that existed in the 1980s.
