Baker Botts has appointed Washington, D.C., partner Heather Souder Choi as the firm’s first Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, as the Am Law 100 firm joins a number of others in Big Law in creating the upper-level position.

Choi, who takes on the new role Tuesday, will also chair the Baker Botts Diversity and Inclusion Committee. A lawyer at the firm for 15 years, she will maintain her practice as a corporate investigations and competition partner.

In her new role, Choi will have responsibility for all aspects of the firm’s equity and inclusion strategy globally, helping the firm effectively integrate inclusion into the firm’s work.
