The Republican Party of Texas prevailed on appeal of a dismissal of its lawsuit against the Houston government agency that cancelled its July 2020 in-person convention because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Citing a failure by the defendant's counsel to expressly define the cause for which the agency asserted force majeure when it revoked a reservation for a convention hall, the Fourteenth District Court of Appeals held that the trial court reversibly erred in granting a summary judgment motion.
