The Texas Supreme Court heard arguments Thursday over the grandfathered rights of a small liquor store chain that has implications for Walmart’s desire to get its own right to sell spirits.

Of concern to the plaintiff and other liquor retailers and entities wanting to get in the business is how the high court will interpret three exemptions in the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code that prohibit publicly trade corporations from getting liquor licenses.
