Expressing a lack of faith in state law enforcement, the federal judge monitoring the Texas foster care system is requesting an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Senior District Judge Janis Graham Jack, in a contentious Wednesday hearing, stated her dissatisfaction with the Texas Rangers and attorneys of the state’s Office of Attorney General for how they have handled an investigation into allegations of sexual exploitation at a Bastrop County foster care facility for girls aged 11 to 17 that were there because of sexual exploitation.
