A federal district judge, plainly unimpressed with a Texas Southern University law professor’s reverse-discrimination claim, dismissed the case Thursday, with prejudice.

In August 2019, Walter Champion—who is still a professor with the university’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law and has been for over 36 years—made two claims against his employer: one for racial discrimination under the Civil Rights Act Title VII and another under the Texas Whistleblower Act for allegedly leaving an endowed professor chair vacant in violation of state law.
