A Dallas attorney brought a legal malpractice suit against a Utah lawyer, who allegedly mishandled a wrongful death suit filed on behalf of a mother.

The underlying civil rights lawsuit, Estate of Byron Williams v. Salt Lake County, West Valley City,  alleged that it took almost 90 minutes for first responders to arrive at a shooting. It alleged the long delay was motivated by race: The witness to the shooting who called 911 dispatch was asked about the victim’s race.
