The families of children with disabilities and higher risk of COVID-19 infections were unable to restore a mask mandate in schools, despite assistance from the U.S. Department of Justice and the Texas Pediatric Society.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit revoked an injunction in Texas that would have kept in place a mask mandate at schools with disabled and at-risk children. The Fifth Circuit stayed a lower court injunction last November while it considered the merits.
