The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, in two opinions that read like primers on how not to establish standing, reversed an injunction granted to a group of voter rights advocates that challenged Texas' voter roll maintenance practices.
The lawsuit, Campaign Legal Center v. Scott, was in essence a sequel to a lawsuit that led to a settlement with the Texas secretary of state, after it was found that agency improperly attempted to purge the voter rolls of alleged noncitizens.
