Jason Cox, the one-term judge presiding over Harris County Probate Court 3, will have to defeat Republican candidate Rory Olsen a second time to hold onto the seat.
Olsen was judge of the same court for several four-year terms, but was defeated by Cox in 2018. Since leaving office, Olsen has practiced as a visiting statutory probate judge, a mediator and an arbitrator.
