My 1L torts professor was in his 70s. A brilliant guy with a mane of thick white hair. In class, he mused that, at a certain age, one's world stopped quickly spinning around the youthful ABCs of life and started slowly spinning around its three "Ps"—poking, prodding, and puncturing by doctors. I can now attest to this truth. And while recently experiencing the three Ps, I wondered (not for the first time) how—if at all—doctors are trained in empathetic care. Turns out, they are. And, it also turns out that they have much to teach lawyers. Here, then, are five prescriptions. Unlimited refills.
