A Baker Botts legal team, after devoting more than $6 million in billable hours, secured a series of confidential settlements in 2023 that included as defendants the Southern Baptist Convention and a former Texas appellate justice.
The last of the settlements was approved Dec. 22 in Harris County's 122nd District Court, bringing closure to the sexual abuse victim, plaintiff Gareld Duane Rollins Jr., who filed suit in 2017 while represented by a solo practitioner.
