Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher has named Dallas-based attorney Trey Cox as its global co-chair of litigation. In this role, he will lead a team of more than 450 trial lawyers while continuing his role as co-partner in charge of Gibson's Dallas offices, a position he has held since 2021. In addition, Cox has an active national litigation practice and is set for five trials over the next 12 months.
Cox is often the one who gets the call when businesses need trial counsel for their most important matters, the firm said. He served as lead trial counsel for Purdue Pharma as a watched bellwether trial against the state of Oklahoma over damages from the opioid crisis headed to trial. Other high-profile trial litigation clients include Meta, Energy Transfer LP, Gamestop, and Dakota Access Pipeline Energy.
Former Texas Assistant AG Joins Beveridge & Diamond
Beveridge & Diamond has expanded its civil environmental enforcement and litigation capabilities in Texas with the addition of Of Counsel Amber Ahmed in its Austin office. Ahmed is the former assistant attorney general in the Environmental Protection Division, where she served as managing attorney of the Natural Resources and Environmental Defense Section at the Texas Office of the Attorney General (OAG).
"We are thrilled to welcome Amber to the firm," said Austin Office Managing Principal Bina Reddy. "Her experience with the Texas OAG and TCEQ, her inside perspective on environmental enforcement, and her deep understanding of issues facing industry in the state will immediately benefit clients facing litigation and civil enforcement matters within Texas and around the U.S."
