Justice Meagan Hassan must overcome a challenge from appellate lawyer Katy Boatman to retain her Place 6 seat in Houston's Fourteenth District Court of Appeals.
Hassan claims to be one of the few civil rights lawyers ever to get on the court. Since her arrival in 2018, she describes the current makeup of the court as "ideologically balanced," which has led to fairer outcomes for all litigants in the court's 10-county jurisdiction.
