- The majority of Democratic Party candidates in judicial appellate and district court races lost.
- Conservative PACs spent millions of dollars targeting Democrat judges in large population districts.
The Republican Party and GOP-aligned political action committees knocked out 13 Democrat incumbent judges in the Greater Houston area, including every single appellate judge on the ballot.
Seven Democrat justices on the First District and Fourteenth District courts of appeals, which combined have jurisdiction over Harris and nine neighboring counties, lost to Republican challengers. Another three Democrats seeking office to a seat in one or the other appellate district also came up short.
