- Abortion, unless the mother's health is in peril, has been outlawed in Texas since 2021.
- Paxton is asking the court to enjoin the doctor from violating Texas law and impose civil penalties of no less than $100,000 for each violation of the law.
The state of Texas filed a petition for injunctive relief in Collin County district court to prevent an out-of-state physician from using telemedicine to provide abortion-inducing drugs.
This is the first case brought by Attorney General Ken Paxton intended to prevent women from receiving abortion-inducing drugs through the mail.
