A Bexar County state court judge is challenging a docket rotation system in place since 1963 that is ignoring a legislative mandate specifying her court must give preference to child at risk cases.
Counsel for the judge, solo practitioner Adam Poncio, said 225th District Judge Christine Vasquez Hortick is not trying to obstruct the rotation system, which is how her superiors have characterized the issue. She is simply asking that the legislative mandate be respected.
