Texas continues to be a hot market for lateral partner hiring, with recent hires in health care, energy finance and international arbitration practices.

In Big Law hiring in Texas, Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton added a health care partner in Houston, Morgan Lewis brought on an energy finance partner in Houston, and Baker Botts hired an international arbitration partner in Houston and an energy regulatory partner in Austin.
The lateral partner hiring comes as firms continue in early 2025 to build key practices in Texas.
Health care partner Ashley Wheelock, who came from Troutman Pepper Locke, joined Sheppard Mullin on Monday, the sixth health care lawyer the firm has hired so far this year, and the 15th since January 2024.

The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, is 3:24-cv-11294, Graco Inc. et al v. Devco Corporation.

The suit, filed Dec. 11 in New York Southern District Court by Bleichmar Fonti & Auld, accuses the defendants of concealing the bank's 'pervasive' deficiencies in regards to its compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and the quality of its anti-money laundering controls.
