Firm sues attorney for stealing clients, gets $1.6 million jury verdict

On May 2, a jury awarded $1.6 million to a law firm that sued an unrelated attorney, claiming that he stole its clients.

In January 2005, Guerra & Moore Ltd. signed Zac Gonzalez to a contingency contract to represent him for injuries he allegedly sustained in a water heater fire that killed his sister. However, Mark Cantu, operating as the Law Offices of Mark A. Cantu, represented Gonzalez and his father from February 2005 until November 2006.
