First, litigant Evan Lane “Van” Shaw attempted to have a suit involving the dissolution of his law firm removed from 193rd District Judge Carl Ginsberg’s court after Ginsberg alleged that it appeared Shaw was stalking him. Now Shaw has sued the judge, alleging libel and slander.

Shaw v. Ginsberg, which Shaw filed in Dallas County Court-at-Law No. 5 on Jan. 26, alleging Ginsberg defamed him, is the latest spin-off from Lemon v. Shaw, a 2003 suit in which Shaw and his former law partner D. Brent Lemon are battling over clients and fees. After court-ordered mediation, Lemon v. Shaw settled in 2004, but in 2007, Lemon filed a bill of review in the 193rd District Court seeking to set aside the settlement agreement.
