In the span of two weeks, two justices on the Texas Supreme Court announced their retirements. But it just took a few days after each of those announcements for a stack of suitors to announce their candidacies for the spots now occupied by Republicans Harriet O’Neill and Scott Brister.

O’Neill will serve until the end of her term in 2010. O’Neill, who announced her intentions Aug. 6, says she has no immediate employment plans and is hesitant to explore that until she’s off the court. [See "O'Neill Won't Run Again," Inadmissible, Texas Lawyer , Aug. 10, 2009, page 3.]
