On Sept. 14, University of North Texas System Chancellor Lee Jackson announced that he has selected a committee to help find a dean for the soon-to-be operational UNT College of Law.

This year, the Texas Legislature approved the creation of a public law school in North Texas and earmarked $5 million of the state’s 2010-2011 budget for the proposed institution. The UNT law school will be the first new Texas public law school opened in more than 40 years and the 10th law school in the state. Classes at the downtown Dallas law school will begin in August 2011, so the search committee hopes to announce the new dean early in 2010.
