There are those who believe the world does not need another lawyer, but state Sen. Royce West, D-Dallas, is not one of them. This spring, Gov. Rick Perry signed into law S.B. 956, which West authored, to establish a new public law school to be located in Dallas. In addition to authorization, the Legislature also appropriated $5 million in startup funding for the new school, which will be called the University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law.
