Judge John Chupp’s interest in sports provided him a lot of things — namely a college education. What it did not provide him was a lot of free time to enjoy the university lifestyle.

Years of playing PeeWee football while growing up in Tarrant County paid off in the early 1990s when Chupp went to the University of North Texas on a football scholarship where he played as a receiver and a punter. He also attended UNT on a track scholarship and ran the decathlon.
