Because the Malaise Law Firm of San Antonio declined to comply fully with a request for information about some current and former employees, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is seeking a federal court order to force the firm to turn it over.
On Feb. 24, the EEOC filed an Application to Enforce Administrative Subpoena in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. In the application in EEOC v. Malaise Law Firm , the EEOC seeks an order directing the Malaise Law Firm to comply with a Sept. 9, 2009, administrative subpoena seeking information the federal agency says it needs to investigate a Title VII discrimination charge a former employee of the firm filed with the Texas Workforce Commission Civil Rights Division and the EEOC.
