Patents owned by Intellectual Ventures started popping up in suits about one year ago. Last week, 16 more companies found themselves on the receiving end of allegations that they had infringed patents once held by IV, when they were sued by a freshly formed patent-holding company called Oasis Research LLC.

This most recent suit more than doubles the number of companies that have been sued with patents once held by IV.
