In two cases decided Aug. 27, the Texas Supreme Court issued opinions that could directly impact lawyers’ practices.

The Supreme Court held in In Re: Columbia Valley Health Care System that disqualification of Brownsville’s Magallanes & Hinojosa from a medical-malpractice suit is required because a legal assistant at the firm had worked on the case despite having previously worked for opposing counsel on the same case.
