The tidal wave of Republican votes on Election Day swept three GOP incumbents on the Texas Supreme Court to easy victories but sunk the hopes of a Democrat vying for a spot on the 3rd Court of Appeals and another trying to hold on to a 13th Court of Appeals seat.

“It was a tsunami,” says Democrat Jim Sharp, a 1st Court of Appeals justice who unsuccessfully challenged Republican Supreme Court Justice Debra Lehrmann.
