Since when were law firm parties ever hot-ticket items? Aren’t they usually those dreaded events where you force yourself to make an appearance, chit-chat awkwardly with partners, then scurry home as fast as you can to catch Jon Stewart’s opening monologue?

Well, apparently, I’ve been missing a lot of action by cutting out early. According to Forbes, December holiday office parties are invitations to trouble: “[A] 2010 poll by human resources firm Adecco shows that 40 percent of us have seen or suffered a major indiscretion at a work-sponsored holiday event. Nearly a quarter of us admit to drinking too much–and some of us (14 percent) behave so badly we’ve lost our jobs.”
