Former Dynegy Inc. senior director of tax planning Jamie Olis has completed his prison time, but his Houston criminal-defense lawyer says he and his firm have yet to be paid in full for Olis’ representation.

Terry W. Yates and his firm, Terry W. Yates & Associates, have been fighting Dynegy for six years, trying to collect attorneys’ fees they allege the Houston-based energy company owes for Olis’ defense. But Dynegy maintains it doesn’t owe Yates and his firm anything more than it already paid, because the oral agreement it had with him is unenforceable based on the statute of frauds.
