On Jan. 27, a jury awarded $388,756 to a man who sustained a lumbar herniation in an intersection collision. In 2008, Damon Dixon had a green light as he went through an Austin intersection. Andrew Murov admitted he was not paying attention and didn’t notice the red light in front of him. Dixon sustained a herniated nucleus pulposus and an annular tear to the L4-5 disk. He underwent multiple intra-articular lumbar facet injections and ultimately fusion surgery. The plaintiff’s spinal surgeon testified that Dixon will require future physical therapy, injections and a rhizotomy.
