King & Spalding partner John Keffer represented the Houston Astros when Drayton McLane purchased the baseball team in 1992, and now represents the Astros in its pending sale to a group led by Houston businessman Jim Crane.

On May 16, McLane, chairman and chief executive officer of the Astros, announced he has reached a definitive agreement to sell the Houston Astros Baseball Club and its share in Comcast Sports Net Houston to the Crane group. Major League Baseball must approve the sale before it is final.
