Robert “Bob” Black took the reins of the State Bar of Texas on June 24 in San Antonio, when he was sworn in as the 2011-2012 president of the organization during the Bar’s annual meeting. He also is the managing shareholder of Beaumont-based MehaffyWeber. Texas Lawyer research editor Jeanne Graham recently emailed Black questions about recommended changes to the Bar’s Client-Attorney Assistance Program, health insurance options for Bar members, and services the SBOT offers its members. His answers are below, edited for length and style.
Texas Lawyer: If at some point in the future, SBOT were to try again on proposed rule changes for the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct, in what ways would you change the Bar’s approach, if at all?
