University of Texas School of Law faculty members welcomed the announcement by William Powers Jr., president of The University of Texas at Austin, on May 9 that he had appointed Ward Farnsworth, associate dean for academic affairs at Boston University School of Law, as the permanent replacement for former School of Law Dean Lawrence Sager.

In December 2011, Sager resigned in the wake of pressure from faculty members who complained about what they saw as his administration’s lack of transparency, particularly concerning compensation issues.
