Linn Energy LLC of Houston didn’t turn to outside counsel to negotiate a joint venture agreement with an affiliate of Anadarko Petroleum Corp. Instead, senior counsel Greg Kopel led the negotiations for Linn, and outside counsel handled tax matters.
“Other than tax help, I did the deal myself from the legal perspective,” Kopel says, noting that Linn’s legal department does a lot of its deal work in-house.
