The plaintiffs in a Tarrant County breach of contract suit have filed a motion for sanctions against opposing counsel Martin J. Sweeney of Dallas. The motion stems from deposition-scheduling emails exchanged between Sweeney and three plaintiffs’ lawyers in Buxton Arlington Pet LLC, et al. v. Pete & Mac’s Arlington LLC, et al.

In their March 2 motion for sanctions, the Buxton plaintiffs allege Sweeney sent “numerous inappropriate and profane emails” to three lawyers at Kelly Hart & Hallman in Fort Worth who represent the plaintiffs in the civil suit. The plaintiffs also allege that, after one of the Kelly Hart lawyers asked Sweeney to end all email communication, Sweeney continued, “ultimately escalating to include threats” against two of the Kelly Hart lawyers. Copies of emails exchanged between Sweeney and the three Kelly Hart lawyers are attached as an exhibit to the motion for sanctions.
