Baker & McKenzie is on the wrong side of a judgment in Mississippi. The firm is appealing, but because of that judgment, a Texas company has filed an application for a writ of garnishment against Baker & McKenzie in Harris County state district court.

A Mississippi state judge ordered Baker & McKenzie to pay S. Lavon Evans Jr. Operating Co. Inc. $29 million plus interest, according to the Nov. 4, 2010, judgment in S. Lavon Evans Jr., et al. v. Baker & McKenzie LLP, et al. The case is on appeal before the Mississippi Supreme Court.
