Where else but the United States can a middle-aged, single mom quit her job and start law school? I firmly believe living in the United States has afforded me opportunities that are only a dream for many other women around the world.

It hasn't always been this way, and I wondered why I was so fortunate to get this opportunity. In answering that question, I began by speaking with women lawyers who started their careers in the 1970s. I inquired about their perspective on the progress made for women in the legal community.
