On Dec. 30, 2013, Lance Armstrong, his cycling team’s company and his business agent filed a motion to stay proposed arbitration proceedings. At stake in those proceedings: previously awarded prize money for the disgraced athlete, who has admitted using performance-enhancing drugs.
Armstrong, Tailwind Sports Inc. and Armstrong’s agent, William Stapleton are defendants in SCA Promotions Inc. v. Lance Armstrong, et al., Dallas-based SCA Promotions Inc. filed a petition filed Feb. 7, 2013, in the 116th District Court in Dallas County, seeking the return of millions of dollars in prize money paid to Armstrong and his team. SCA based its claims on the disgraced athlete’s admissions that he used “performance-enhancing drugs.”
